So long, 2023!
In 2023, we resolved to get a better understanding of our physical health. We signed up for Function Health’s (https://www.functionhealth.com/) program to get some data on how our biomarkers looked. Function Health also provides a list of “Foods to ” and “Foods to Limit” to help with improving any biomarkers that may be out of range. It has done wonders. We lost some weight and have improved our out of range biomarkers. There is still more work to do; however, we are on the best path and we have the data to back it up.
Hello, 2024!
In 2024, we are resolving to get a better handle of our finances. We are not in a bad financial place and feel for those who are. We just want to be sure that we are in a better position to help those we can when they need it. To get there, we need to focus on only spending money on what is important, paying down any debt we may have, and saving for a rainy day. So… here is what we are doing.
- “If it’s not food*, don’t buy it.”
- Put $100 / week in a savings account.
- Focus on paying down high(er) interest rate debt.
“If it’s not food*, don’t buy it.”
This one is so simple, it’s stupid. If it’s not food, don’t buy it. So, why the asterisk? Of course, you still need to pay things like electric, water, insurance, house payments / rent, gas, tires, etc. Otherwise, if it’s not food, don’t buy it. To give ourselves some leeway, we are each getting a $500 gift card for the first six months of the year and another $500 gift card for the second half of the year. This gives a little freedom to do some splurging like getting a new pair of shoes, spa day, or birthday present. Simple right? We will see!
The other two are pretty straightforward. We need to have a rainy day fund and if we have extra money, we can focus on paying down high(er) rate interest debt.
Here’s to a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2024 for all of us!
